“Home” by Gary R. Hess – A Poem about Life

HOME
by Gary R.Hess

There’s no place like home, it’s true
for I have seen my home
and it’s lost both to and fro.
My life began with such a place
of kindness and sustenance,
But as I grew in further times
that place became no home of mine.

A place of pastures and fields of corn
to a city of malls and stores galore.
The fields of green had disappeared
but distractions came, so I cheered.
As time had passed my mood thus changed.
The city was no home of mine.

Lost between two hands of time,
my mind became a jumble.
As two cultures clashed inside
my mind was yet a jungle.

Home became a place not here,
thus a place I couldn’t bear.

A place of quiet somber.
A place of noises and hustle.
A place where both come true.
Would be my dream come true.
