Fear of Being – A Poem from Temptation’s Trust

Fear of Being
by Gary R. Hess

Your smile is like an angel’s wings
that takes me where I’ve never seen.
It floats me high into the sky
and drops me when I begin to fly
and when I drop to Ocean’s floor,
I swim and sink and swim some more
to hold my thoughts unto ignore.

I surface then wonder the land
in search of holy slumber,
But I fear your laugh,
and turn to death’s chamber.

It brings along a midnight glow
of winter’s deathly passion.
Of tears and fears
and hopes and cheers
of years of everything
which I hold dear,
but hopes and cheers
bring with nothing
but love’s deathly fashion
in search of glory’s passion.

This poem is from my new book of love poetry titled “Temptation’s Trust”. This is my first book of love poetry.
